Some people feel healthier and more energetic, while others report feeling tired, sicker than usual and inconvenienced by the constant trips to the bathroom. The lemon juice acts as a diuretic and the optional laxative tea and saltwater flushes the bowels. There is anecdotal evidence about long strands of feces expelled during the cleanse, believed by some to be accumulated build-up in the intestines. However, most medical professionals agree this is not the case and feel the risks of the lemonade diet outweigh any benefits.

Are There Risks?

    Most drastic diets include risks, and cleansers or lemonade diets are no exception. The diet is low in calories and lacks fiber, protein, fat, carbohydrates and vitamins -- all essential components of a healthy diet. Dieters following the cleanse report feeling dizzy, hungry and fatigued, and many experience headaches, nausea, constipation or diarrhea. While fruit juice mixers give you the added benefit of being nutritious and containing antioxidants, they can also be full of calories. If you favor screwdrivers --- vodka and orange juice --- swap out your regular orange juice for a light, lower calorie version, which can cut approximately 60 calories from an 8 ounce beverage. For those that love cranberry-vodka drinks, know that 8 ounces of cranberry juice cocktail contains about 136 calories, while light cranberry juice contains around only 40 calories. Mix your vodka with diet tonic for no added calories or splash it with 1/2 ounce of lemon or lime juice for just 10 calories.

On the Rocks

    Cut down on calories in a vodka drink by skipping the mixer completely. Vodka is available in many different flavors that can please the palette without the use of a mixer; also many different brands sell flavored vodka. Choose among such flavors as apple, apricot, banana or even chocolate. Pour the alcohol, add ice and enjoy.

Garnish

    Get a bit of flavor without adding many calories to your vodka drink by adding a garnish. Drink your vodka with a wedge of lemon, lime, orange or cucumber. Cut these garnishes into spiral or flowers for fun. Dunk an olive, cherry or chunk of pineapple in your glass. Add a blackberry, raspberry or blueberry kabob to the drink. Sprinkle with shredded coconut or mint leaves.

Diabetic & Renal Diet

If you are a diabetic who also suffers from chronic kidney disease (CKD), you have to follow both a diabetic and renal diet. Taking both conditions into consideration, you need to limit carbohydrates, fats, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and sugar. Adhering to diet guidelines may be tricky at first, but you should be able to follow a healthy diet plan with a few tips.

Good-Carb Foods

    As a diabetic, you need to keep your blood sugar levels under control by following a meal routine and consuming the same level of carbohydrates with each meal. You should discuss your caloric needs with a dietitian, but try to have three carbohydrate servings (with one serving equaling 15g) at each meal.

High-Protein Foods

    Your diabetic and renal diet also should consist of non-carbohydrate high-protein foods. You can eat limited amounts of cottage cheese (which has high sodium levels, so sparingly), eggs (or a low-cholesterol substitute), fish, lean cuts of meat, poultry and seafood (without boiling in high-sodium seasonings).

    Among meat and high-protein foods you should avoid are cheeses (American, cheddar and Swiss); dried beans (such as kidney, lentil, lima, pinto or soy); high-sodium meats (such as bacon, canned and luncheon meats, hot dogs, organ meats, pepperoni, salami and sausages); nuts and peanut butter.

Beverages and Milk Items

    Among the sugar-free and phosphorus-free or -light beverages you can consume are clear diet sodas, Crystal Light, unsweetened lemonade or tea you make at home and water. If you are on a fluid restriction, limit your amount of fluid intake.

    Since you are on a diabetic and renal diet, you should limit milk products to 2 daily servings. You can consume fat-free or skim milk, plain yogurt, sugar-free ice cream and sugar-free pudding.

What to Avoid

    You should not include potassium-rich fruits and vegetables in your diabetic and renal diet; these include items like artichoke, avocados, bananas, brussels sprouts, cantaloupe, fresh broccoli, fresh pears, honeydew melon, kiwi, oranges, potatoes, prunes, pumpkin, raisins, spinach, tomatoes and yams.

    On your avoid list of phosphorus- or sodium-rich starches should be biscuit, cornbread, gingerbread and pancake mixes; potato chips, corn chips and salted crackers; sugar-coated and instant cereals; whole grain cereals (such as bran flakes, granola and oatmeal); and whole wheat or whole grain breads.

    Phosphorus-rich milk items you should avoid include buttermilk, chocolate milk, sweetened yogurt and sugar-sweetened frozen desserts, ice cream and puddings.

    You should stay away from phosphorus-rich drinks, so do not consume beverages like beer, canned or sweetened lemonade and tea, dark colas, Gatorade, Hawaiian Punch, Powerade and Sunny Delight.

    Symptoms for acid indigestion are separated into two categories: mild to moderate and severe. Mild to moderate symptoms include: a burning sensation under the breastbone and gastro upset after you eat. Severe symptoms include: persistent gastro pain, mild symptoms that occur more than twice a week and heartburn that is still persistent after taking appropriate medications. In addition, people with acid indigestion tend to frequently belch, causing acid to reach the throat. This sometimes seeps into the mouth causing a bitter or sour taste.

Causes

    After you swallow your food it goes down a pipe called an esophagus. The esophagus is roughly 10 inches long and leads right into the stomach. Hydroxycut is a brand of weight loss products that was recalled in May 2009. The FDA recalled most Hydroxycut products following one death and over 20 cases of severe liver damage. Hydroxycut has since been replaced with a line of products called Hydroxycut Advanced, a comparable product with a slightly changed formula. Although severe liver damage was a potential side effect, Hydroxycut and now Hydroxycut Advanced have helped many people in temporarily achieving their weight loss goals. Both versions of Hydroxycut claim to boost metabolism, burn fat and suppress the appetite.


How It Works

    Hydroxycut products contain various stimulants such as caffeine, plant extracts and other patented formulas. Prior to is banning in 2004, ephedrine was also an ingredient on the formula list. Hydroxycut ingredients cause thermogenesis in the body, causing calories to burn while suppressing the appetite.

Side Effects

    Weight loss, even extreme weight loss, has been reported by product users. Other Hydroxycut side effects are similar to those produced by any stimulant.     Place the chopped ginger and the honey into the glass bowl and pour 2 cups of boiling water over the mixture. Stir to dissolve the honey.

    Place a plate over the bowl. Allow the mixture to steep 30 to 45 minutes.

    Roll the first lemon on the counter while pressing with your hand.

    Cut the lemon in half. Hold the lemon half over the bowl and press the reamer into the flesh of the lemon. Twist the reamer in the flesh of the lemon until all the juice is released.

    Pour the juice through a strainer into a measuring cup. Repeat with the second half of the lemon and any other lemons until you have 1/2 cup of juice.

    Pour the lemon juice into the glass pitcher. Pour the ginger and honey mixture through the strainer and into the pitcher. Add 2 cups of cold water. Stir with a spoon with a long handle.

    Fill all four glasses with crushed ice. Pour the lemonade over the ice and garnish with a slice of fresh lemon.

Weight Loss in Ten Days

When you're trying to lose weight, you don't want to wait for months before you see some results. Cutting the carbs and calories, exercising and staying away from ice cream and sodas can become difficult if there never seems to be any reward for all your hard work. Though some methods might not be suitable for using long term, there are several ways for you to lose weight within 10 days and stay motivated.

Scarsdale Medical Diet

    One quick weight-loss method that was popular for decades is the Scarsdale Medical Diet. Created by Dr. Herman Tarnower at his clinic in Scarsdale, New York, the diet plan claims you will lose up to 15 pounds in two weeks. The Scarsdale Diet is a fixed-menu diet, which means that what you can eat every day of the plan is strictly laid out, and substitution is highly discouraged if you want to lose weight fast. The plan alternates, with two weeks of the fixed menu, then two weeks of the "Keep Trim" diet, which allows more choice of food.

    No alcohol, sugar, oil, margarine or fat is allowed on the Scarsdale Diet. Between-meal snacks are also not allowed, except for carrots and celery. Breakfast is the same every day: coffee or tea with no cream or sugar, half a grapefruit, and one slice of protein or whole-grain bread, no butter. Lunch and dinner offer more variety , and there are alternate menus from which to choose, such as the vegetarian menu, the gourmet menu and the international menu. All of the meals result in a diet that hovers around 800 calories a day.

The Master Cleanse

    Another popular way to lose weight quickly is the Master Cleanse, also known as the lemonade diet. The Master Cleanse is also used for "detoxification" of the body, ridding it of chemicals and impurities. The Master Cleanse is a simple diet. For 10 days, you eat and drink nothing but a beverage made of water, fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. There is also a daily saltwater flush.

    There are usually three phases ascribed to the Master Cleanse: Ease-In, the Lemonade Diet, and the Ease-Out. Easing-in involves getting yourself ready, both physically and mentally, for going 10 days with no food. During this phase, you eliminate processed foods and begin consuming more fruits, vegetables and juices. During the Lemonade Diet phase, you consume nothing but your drink of lemon juice, pepper, water and maple syrup. The saltwater flush can be done either at the beginning of the day or the end of the day. Ease-Out involves slowly adding solid foods back into your diet over the course of three or four days.

    The Master Cleanse has been around for decades, and various celebrities have credited it with allowing them to lose weight in an extremely short period of time. Some people report losing from 15 to 40 pounds while doing the Master Cleanse.

Detoxification Diets To Lose Weight

Detoxification, or detox, diets can be an effective short-term weight loss strategy, a "cleanse" or a great way to begin a long-term weight-loss regimen. Detoxification diets come in a variety of forms, with mild regimens prescribing the elimination of unhealthy foods and instead focusing on organic fruits, vegetables and meats to more extreme strategies shunning all solid foods and instead focusing on meal replacements.

Things To Consider

    As with any diet program, there is some risk of nutrient deficiency while trying a new regimen. For this reason, it is important to speak with your doctor before beginning any program, especially fasting. Drastic weight loss--of two pounds per week or more--can lead to nutrient deficiency and can become dangerous. Initial side effects of fasting are usually mild, like headaches, while long-term effects can become more severe and even dangerous and include anemia, low blood sugar and irregular heartbeat.

    Speak with your doctor to find out if taking a supplement is a good way to complement your regimen. Even if you are choosing a "mild" program that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein, it may be difficult to get all of the nutrients that the body requires. Nutritionist Monica Reinagel suggests that taking a multivitamin may be a good way to ensure that your diet is complete. If you are eliminating solid food for a number of days, it is important to re-introduce food gradually, so as to prevent stomach irritation.

    Exercise is an important component of weight loss. Maintaining muscle mass while on a detoxification diet may be difficult, so regular exercise should be a part of your strategy.

Master Cleanse

    The Master Cleanse was invented in 1941 and was later popularized by Stanley Burroughs. Burroughs claims that the detox eliminates toxins from the body and can often help people lose weight. The Master Cleanse prescribes drinking 2 liters of lemonade made with lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water daily instead of food. Proponents recommend the cleanse for a minimum of ten days, though some people stay on the plan for considerably longer.

Liquid Diets

    Liquid diets are also a popular detox diet that can often lead to weight loss. Some liquid diets promote juices as a supplement to one's diet, while others recommend them and various commercially available powders and liquids as meal replacements. Meal-replacement products, containing various macronutrients, can be bought in regular grocery stores as well as in health-food stores.

The Fruit Flush Diet

    The Fruit Flush Diet promotes a three-day fast that focuses on the consumption of fresh fruit, raw vegetables and lean protein like chicken, fish and egg whites. The Fruit Flush Diet also recommends the use of lemons and limes, due to their mildly diuretic properties. The cleanse is based on the idea that fruit--because of its high water content--will eliminate toxins from the body.

About the Kaufman Phase 1 Diet

Millions of Americans are already familiar with Doug Kaufman and his interesting dietary theories. But after stripping away some of the more outlandish claims associated with his Phase I Diet, the core remains a solid approach to nutrition that stands to benefit almost everyone. While some of his theories may be somewhat eccentric, his dietary principles are well-proved, and have been implemented in one form or another in countless other programs, including, for example, Atkins and the Caveman diets. But for those who are not well-versed in all things Doug Kaufman, read on and discover more about the Phase I Diet.

Who is Doug Kaufman

    Doug Kaufman is a Vietnam veteran who is probably most familiar to individuals as the host of "Know the Cause," a television show used as a springboard for his nutritional and dieting theories. Kaufman also is an author, having written a book titled "The Germ that Causes Cancer," which is an elaboration of his ideas about proper nutrition.

Theory

    Kaufman says he believes that the root of many maladies is found in fungi, which make their way into the body in large part from many of the carbohydrate-containing foods we regularly consume. He draws from both science and religion to support his view, using some biblical references to argue against the consumption of yeast.

Implementation

    Beyond the fungal propaganda, the Phase 1 Diet looks similar to other low-carbohydrate diets on the market. Kaufman recommends sticking to fruits, vegetables, meats, oils (e.g. olive, flax, and coconut) and nuts, and eliminating all beverages except for water, teas, and some fresh-squeezed juices. Aside from that, he espouses that whenever possible, organic foods should be consumed, and meats should be antibiotic and hormone free.

    The Phase 1 Diet is usually prescribed for a two weeks, after which a Phase II diet is recommended. However, with sufficient willpower, one could remain on the Phase 1 Diet forever.

Expected benefits

    According to Kaufman's theory, the fungus in the body lives off of carbohydrates, so by engaging in a low-carb diet, the fungus eventually will be eliminated. Other expected benefits of a low-carb, natural food diet include reduced body fat, weight loss and an increase in energy. While the first week or so of the diet will be difficult (as the body switches from carb burning to fat burning mode), after the initiation period, the dieter should see an increase in energy so long as he keeps his carb intake low.

Considerations

    Whether you buy into the proposed fungus conspiracy theory, do not let that slight bit of eccentricity scare you away from the Phase I diet. On the whole, this is a healthy, natural way of eating that if followed by a substantial portion of the population)would solve many of our obesity issues. While it is difficult to maintain a low-carbohydrate lifestyle in a world that seemingly revolves around unhealthy food choices, the benefits are proved, there and waiting. All you need to bring to the table is the will.

Healthy Diet Regimens

Although some diets that depend on starvation or food deprivation might help you to lose weight quickly, they are often depriving the body of essential nutrients necessary to maintain optimal health. In order to be healthy, it is important to maintain a balance in your food choices that will enable you to get adequate nutrients, but still lose weight.

Restrict Calories

    According to www.health.gov, national dietary guidelines for Americans recommend that women age 19 to 30 from sedentary to active should consume 2,000 to 2,500 calories daily, respectively. Similarly, recommendations for men are 3,000 to 3,500 daily. Calorie recommendations for each decade before or after these age ranges drop or rise by 100 per day. Eliminate 500 calories daily to lose 1 lb. of fat per week (3,500 calories in a pound of fat). The majority of your foods should come from nutrient-dense fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Some processed foods can be eaten on low-calorie diets, as long as you stay within your chosen target range.

Limit Fats

    On a low-fat diet, just 20 percent of foods you consume should come from fat, and you should get the majority of these from polyunsaturated fat. Because carbohydrates have 4 calories per gram and fat has 9 calories per gram, you will lose weight fast by restricting fat from your diet. To be successful on a low-fat diet plan, eat foods such as fruits vegetables, plain potatoes and whole grains. Avoid processed foods, butter, cheeses, fatty dairy products, cakes, candies and other products that contain hydrogenated oil. Foods that contain polyunsaturated fat that can be eaten in limited quantities (a handful or less) are nuts, sesame seeds and sunflower oil.

Diet and Exercise

    On a diet and exercise program, you are more able to eat foods that you crave because you can work them off through an exercise session. Eat foods that are healthy, such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains, and limit fats to 20 to 30 percent of the diet. On this diet, you can usually eat the recommended number of calories and still lose weight because you burn the calories through exercise.

    To lose weight quickly, use a combination of aerobics and weight training, and work out 30 to 60 minutes three to five times per week at up to 85 percent of your training (maximum) heart rate. Subtract your age from 220 to determine your training heart rate. Activities that will help you to lose weight are stepping, biking, fast-walking, running, elliptical, dancing, kick boxing and weight training.

Glycemic Index Diet

    The glycemic index diet is based on eating foods that are low on the glycemic scale in order to lower blood glucose levels and encourage weight loss. This diet measures foods based on how high the blood sugar goes in response to the food. A study performed in Canada at the University Toronto and St. Michaels Hospital found that foods that are high on the glycemic index did lower blood glucose levels more than participants who ate a high-fiber diet. Glucose is obtained from carbohydrates and used for energy. Any excess glucose not used is stored as fat. Some low-glycemic foods are vegetables, nuts, fruits, flaxseed, quinoa, vegetables and fruits. Cereals, rolls, doughnuts and bagels are high-glycemic foods, and foods such as pineapple, instant oatmeal and cheese pizza are in the mid-range.

South Beach Diet

    The South Beach Diet encourages both healthy eating and weight loss. The first phase of the Diet (2 weeks) is restrictive of carbohydrates, and includes foods such as eggs, chicken, nuts, vegetables, fish and cheese. Avoid potatoes, fruit, bread and processed foods. Phase 2 includes unlimited protein such as meats and eggs, and vegetables are 1/2 cup or more per day. White breads, potatoes, rice and processed foods are still not allowed; however, some whole grains, beans, pita and oatmeal can be eaten during phase 2. Fruits are allowed in phase 2 as well. In the phase 3 maintenance part of the diet (lifetime), food choices should remain healthy. Processed foods, or non-nutrient-dense food like cakes, candies, white bread and high-fat foods, should be kept very limited in your overall diet.

Orange Mango Rum Cocktail

    This is one of the few fruit-flavored rum cocktails you can make that is sugar-free. Pour 1 oz. of rum into a tall glass full of ice cubes. Fill the glass with Sparkling Ice Orange Mango drink and stir. Sparking Ice Orange Mango is made from natural flavors and is sugar-free, sodium-free and calorie-free.

Tadpole

    This sugar-free rum drink uses a combination of rum and sugar-free Red Bull energy drink. Pour a can of sugar-free Red Bull into a tall glass filled with ice. Add 4 oz. of Captain Morgan Tattoo orange rum. The orange taste of the rum provides a slightly sweet, fruity flavor, making it less sharp than other sugar-free rum recipes.

Egg Nog

    This drink contains rum extract, which has a lower alcohol content than regular rum, making it ideal for those who are looking for a sugar-free, low-alcohol rum drink. You will need 4 cups of fat-free milk, 1 cup of egg substitute, sugar substitute equal to 4 tbsp. of sugar and 1 tbsp. of rum extract. Mix the ingredients in an electric mixer or a rotary beater until well-blended. Chill the liquid for a couple of hours. Stir the drink and sprinkle with nutmeg before serving.

Rum Sour

    Go Cocktail (gococktails.com) sells sugar-free powdered mixes to mix with the alcohol of your choice. For its rum sour recipe, you will need a packet of Go Cocktails Sweet and Sour mix, 1 1/2 oz. of rum or cherry rum and 6 1/2 oz. of water. Mix the ingredients.

How to Do the Master Cleanse

The Master Cleanse is a pretty intense process. But just like exercise, the more intense the training, the shorter the duration. It involves drinking a concoction that has been coined as "lemonade" to give the body energy during the day. There is also a part of it that cleanses the body of backed-up toxins and wastes that takes place in the evening. In order to pull this off, you need great will power and, most of all, discipline.

    Remove the junk. In the first part of the Master Cleanse, you need to eliminate all the bad foods from your diet. This includes deep fried foods, processed foods, refined foods and foods that are high in saturated fat.

    Ease your way in. You are to do an ease-in phase the first three days before the actual cleanse starts. This is to get your body acclimated to liquid calories. On the first day, you eat nothing but fruits and vegetables. On the second day, you drink the juices of the fruits and vegetables. On the day before you start the fast, you drink 2 liters of fresh squeezed orange juice mixed with water and 2 tbsp. of maple syrup throughout the day.

    Make your lemonade. First thing in the morning, you need to prepare your daily lemonade. Mix 14 tbsp. of lemon juice, 14 tbsp. of maple syrup, 1/2 tsp. of cayenne pepper and 2 liters of water together. Divide it into two of your 1-liter bottles and fill the other bottle with water.

    Drink the lemonade. Whenever you feel hungry, take a few shots of the lemonade and chase it down with some water. The 2 liters is your whole daily amount, so make sure to spread it out. You want to end up in the evening with no lemonade, so pay attention to the pace you set for yourself.

    Do the flush. This part is done in the evening after you have run out of lemonade. Fill one of your liter bottles with room temperature water and a tablespoon of sea salt. Shake it up really well and drink it all down. You don't necessarily have to chug right down in one breath, but drink it down continuously until it is gone.

    Be ready to evacuate. After about 30 to 60 minutes, you are going to have to take a lot of trips to the bathroom. This is where you will be flushing the digestive tract of backed-up fecal matter. Remain close to the bathroom until your bowel movements have gotten to the point where they are greater than 15 minutes apart. You should then be safe to go about your evening as usual.

    Repeat the process. Now follow the same process every day for three to seven days. After your last day of the cleanse, do an ease-out phase exactly the same way as the ease-in phase but in reverse order. Do the orange juice the first day, the juices the second day, the fruits and vegetables the third day and then go back to your regular diet.

How to Do a Lemon Detox

The lemon detox diet has become very popular as a way of losing weight and cleaning toxins from the body. Achieving and maintaining good health goes far beyond a 7- or 10-day fast. However, if you are in a pinch and are looking to shed a few pounds and jumpstart your journey to health, the lemon detox diet is for you.

There are many benefits to students who learn how to make lemonade. A lemonade stand can be done to raise money for the school or another good cause. It can also be done at home to make personal money. That can lead to some lessons in finance. Making lemonade is also a good home economics project. It teaches children how to make their own drink if a ready made drink is not available.

Basic Lemonade

    Begin your project by teaching the children how to make a basic lemonade. Divide the children into groups of two or three. Make sure each group has a pitcher, measuring cup, knife, and a cutting board. Instruct the children on how to properly handle the knife. If the children are too young, cut the lemons into wedges the night before and just hand out the wedges. Each group needs one lemon for each cup of water that they will be placing in their pitcher. It is best if you have them make enough for their group so if there are three group members, three lemons will be needed. Have the children add as many cups of water as there are group members. Then cut up the same amount of lemons. The lemons must have the seeds removed first. Then the lemons can be squeezed over the pitchers so that the lemon juice enters the pitcher. Finally, the children need to add sugar to sweeten up the lemonade. Have the children measure out 1/4 of cup of sugar for each group member and add it to the pitcher. Mix well and pour in to individual glasses.

    Optional: Give each child a drink umbrella to place in their cup.

Pink Lemonade

    Now that children understand how to make lemonade, they can make different flavors. The most popular flavor after the original lemonade is pink lemonade. Have the children make the lemonade the way they made the original version. Then have them add half a teaspoon of grenadine for each cup of water in their pitcher. So a group of two children would use one teaspoon and a group of three children would use one and a half teaspoon of grenadine. Finish the pink lemonade by adding one cherry for each student. Mix the ingredients together and serve in individual glasses.

Cucumber Lemonade

    You will need a blender for this version. Again, you will want the students to use the basic lemonade method to make lemonade. Then cut some cucumbers in to fourths and give one fourth to each student. Have all of the students in the group place their cucumber pieces in the blender. Each group will have to take a turn using the blender. Choose the puree button. When the cucumber has been pureed, take it out and have the students place it in a fine mesh strainer to remove any pieces of cucumber that still remain. Pour the cucumber puree in the lemonade pitcher and mix. Tell each group to pour one glass of cucumber lemonade for each member. Enjoy.

    Tips: Once students understand the basic lemonade recipe, and how to use the blender to puree, they can make any kind of lemonade they want. Let them know they could puree strawberries or raspberries and add that to the lemonade. Pretty much any fruit or vegetable that they can puree can be added to the basic lemonade recipe.

Whether you want to lose weight or detox your body, a vegan liquid diet can reset your system and shed unwanted pounds. A liquid diet is when all your meals are presented in liquid form. Some liquid plans allow dieters to consume milk and meat-based products during their liquid fast, while others, such as the vegan diet, are solely plant-based. Food is juiced and no sugar, additives or preservatives are included in the drinks. Some dieters adhere to the vegan liquid diet for only one day and others can remain on the diet for a week or more.

Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet

    The Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet is one approach to the vegan liquid diet. People primarily turn to this vegan liquid diet to detox their system and lose weight. The diet consists of three phases where dieters ease into the cleanse, conduct the liquid cleanse, then ease out.

    The first phase, called ease in, lasts for three days and you are allowed to eat solid food only during the first day. On the first day, you are required to eliminate meat and processed foods and consume only fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes. All plant matter is juiced on day two and by day three you may only drink freshly juiced orange juice.

    During the Master Cleanse phase you drink a combination of two tbs. fresh lemon juice, two tbs. maple syrup, 1/10 tsp. cayenne pepper and one to two cups of pure water. Dieters drink six to 12 glasses of this mixture each day and perform a saltwater flush every evening. This is done by drinking salted water, which encourages elimination. The Master Cleanse should be done for 10 days.

    The ease out phase is a repeat of ease in, but backwards. Start day one with freshly squeezed orange juice, followed by juiced fruits and vegetables and by day three you can consume whole, natural food such as fruit, vegetables and grains.

Juice Fast

    Although a liquid juice fast is generally not used for weight loss, but instead of detoxing the body, you can still lose a few pounds during the fast. This diet requires using a juiceryoull juice all your meals using this machine.

    Select a variety of fruits and vegetables to include in every meal. All produce must be raw and fresh, consumed immediately after juicing to preserve the integrity of the drink. Thoroughly wash and peel any vegetables with rough skins or those that have been waxed, such as cucumbers. Some vegetables that contain the most vitamins include carrots, celery, tomatoes, cucumber, beets and zucchini squash.

    Although both fruit and vegetables are acceptable on the juice liquid diet, the majority of the juice should be vegetable juice. Some people dilute their juice with 50 percent filtered water and others will alternate drinking a glass of water with a glass of juice.

    A vegan juice diet contains pure nutrients, vitamins and minerals so there is no limit to how much you can drink. However, the average adult should consume approximately four eight-ounce glasses of juice per day. This vegan juice diet can be executed for up to eight days to produce a cleansing effect.

Meyer and Eureka trees are cold-hardy lemon trees, which means they can withstand very cold temperatures. Both tree types also produce lemon fruits in clusters on the branch mostly all year round, with a particularly high crop season in the winter months. Does this Spark an idea?

Time Frame

    The Eureka lemon tree produces fruit all year, mainly puffing with fresh yellow fruits in late winter. The Meyer lemon tree produces fruit all year, but fruits tend to pop most from December to April.

Size

    The Eureka lemon tree grows to a medium size, about 8 to 12 feet, and is almost thornless. The Meyer lemon is taller, reaching 15 feet at full maturity.

Considerations

    While the Eureka is sensitive to cold shocks and early freezes, the Meyer tree is cold-resistant and produces a prolific amount of lemons throughout the season.

Identification

    Eureka lemons are one of the most acidic lemon varieties, with a tart juicy pulp. The Meyer lemon is only moderately acidic, with a medium tart lemon flavor.
