How to Lose Weight Fast by Not Eating

While anorexia--not eating food in order to lose weight--is a dangerous and unhealthy lifestyle, fasting--temporarily not eating food to cleanse your digestive system and gain mental clarity--can be a good way to jump start a healthy eating plan. When following a fast, you are allowed to drink liquids, but you must not eat any foods. Going on a fast may help you to break food addictions, allowing you to go forward and lose more weight through healthy food choices.

Instructions

    1

Choose a liquid fast diet to follow. You can choose from various liquid diets, such as the Master Cleanse or lemonade diet, the 24 Hour Hollywood Diet or a juice fast. Be sure that you choose a plan that includes the vitamins that your body needs, or look for a supplement that you can take.

    2

Set a date to start the liquid fast. Think about when it will be easiest for you to follow a liquid diet to lose weight. For example, some people will do best on this diet by starting it on a weekday because they'll have work to distract them from food. Others prefer to start it on a weekend so that the lack of food doesn't affect work performance. Think about your own personality to decide which will work best for you.

    3

Remove temptations from your home. As the date approaches, you should either eat or throw away foods that may tempt you. Assuming that you're using this to get rid of addictions and start eating healthy, you'll want to make sure that all junk food is out of the house by the time you start the fast.

    4

Drink only liquids for the duration of the fast. On the day that you've chosen, start the fast. Follow the directions for the particular fast that you've chosen. The fast should only last a few days.

    5

Re-introduce solid foods into your diet slowly. For example, the first day, eat only fruits and vegetables and work your way up to heartier fare like pasta over time.
