How to Lose 10 Pounds with the Master Cleanse

Many people want to learn how to lose 10 pounds with the Master Cleanse when they start researching the diet. The lemonade mixture that is a staple of the master cleanse diet has been talked about in pop culture for years but, if this is the first time you have considered doing a cleanse, you might be a bit frightened by the idea of not eating for 10 days. Many people feel this way, but the master cleanse actually offers you a great deal of energy, and you won't be hungry along the way.

    Eat light meals for two days before your Master Cleanse. This will enable your body to adjust to fewer calories and help rid your body of excess toxins before starting the cleanse. Eating light meals means no meat, no sugar, lots of vegetables and soft foods like gelatin, soup and pudding.

    Purchase your supplies for your 10-day cleanse. There is nothing worse than getting halfway through the Master Cleanse and needing more lemons. You will end up at the grocery store with a cart full of chips.

    Make your house safe. Do your best to rid your home of the foods that you know will be calling your name while on the cleanse.

    Prepare your lemonade mixture.

    10 ounces of water
    2 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup
    2 tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice
    1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder

    Since you are freshly squeezing your lemons for the cleanse it will save you time if you make a larger quantity all at once. You can make a days worth of lemonade at a time, but do not add the cayenne pepper until you are ready to drink the cleanse mixture.

    To prepare 60 oz. of lemonade use this recipe:

    60 ounces of water
    12 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup
    12 tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice
    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder

The Cleanse

    Drink your sea salt drink or laxative herbal tea first thing every morning. You should experiment with each of these to see which you prefer. The laxative herbal tea is slower moving than the sea salt flush.

    If you are doing the sea-salt flush:

    1 teaspoon non-iodized sea salt
    32 ounces warm water

    If you are doing the herbal laxative tea:

    1 tea packet--let stand for 15 minutes in warm water
    8 ounces warm water

    Plan on staying home for at least 90 minutes after drinking the mixture (especially with the sea salt flush). Lay down and wait about 30 minutes. Then try to have a bowel movement. Don't be surprised by what comes next. Remember, these drinks are designed to help cleanse your system.

    Drink 10 ounces of the master cleanse lemonade mixture. Keep a sports bottle of your lemonade with you at all times. Keep it cool and sip on it throughout the day. Drinking your first 10 ounces before you leave the house will help keep you on track for losing 10 pounds with the master cleanse.

    Drink a cup of mint tea. Throughout the day you can supplement your master cleanse lemonade mixture with plain water and mint tea. This gives you a little different taste in your mouth, and the mint tea will help ward off hunger cravings.

    Take regular medication. Always talk to your physician before starting the master cleanse, but almost all medications can still be taken while on the master cleanse diet. You may have to adjust them to later in the morning after you have completed the laxative herbal tea or sea salt flush. Discuss with your doctor when the best time to take your medication will be.

    Drink six 10-ounce servings of the master cleanse lemonade mixture every day. As you go through the process you might not feel as hungry as you once did, and you might not want to drink all 60 ounces, but be sure to drink it. It is the only way to keep your body healthy while going through the cleanse.

    Drink your laxative herbal tea before going to bed. Because the laxative herbal tea works slower than the sea salt flush, many people choose to do the tea in the evenings before bed. It will help you relax and get to sleep faster. Then combined with the sea salt flush in the morning, you will have a great morning cleanse.

    Continue for 10 days. Some people do the cleanse for up to a month, but it is not advised if you are not fully experienced with the cleansing process and being monitored by a physician. If you truly love what the cleanse does for you, consider doing it once every couple of months. You will get the same benefits as someone who did the master cleanse for 30 days, but it is much easier to do for 10 days.

    Eat lightly for two days after the cleanse. Start with some soups or soft foods on the first day. On the second day, add salads. By the third day after the cleanse you should be ready to start eating your normal diet again.
