How to Deal with a Queasy Stomach

How to Deal with a Queasy Stomach

Most of us have experienced that awful feeling at one time or another - a sick feeling in the pit of our stomach or a feeling of nausea. You may be hungry, but afraid to eat, or unable to eat because of a queasy stomach. There are some simple solutions to help stop and calm down a queasy stomach.

Instructions

    1

Suck on a lemon or sip a glass of lemonade. The sourness will help settle your stomach.

    2

Counteract the odor that makes you feel queasy with a fresh, pleasant scent or mask the odor with a different scent to avoid upsetting your stomach.

    3

Munch on whole wheat or other crackers. Bland foods like oatmeal may also help to stop your stomach from feeling unsettled and queasy.

    4

Avoid spicy or rich foods. Keep to a simple diet until the queasiness passes and you are feeling better. Try sipping a spicy drink like Clamato or spicy tomato juice if you prefer spicier foods

    5

Watch for dehydration. Older adults and children, especially, should be given plenty of fluids to avoid becoming dehydrated. Warm tea with lemon can help soothe a queasy or sour stomach.

    6

Prepare a clear broth. If the person still is unable or uninterested in eating, try preparing a clear broth flavored with protein like cooked chicken or vegetables.
