How to Quickly Pass a Kidney Stone

Kidney stones can literally be a pain, so you want to pass them as soon as possible. Although not all kidney stones can be passed without intervention from a medical professional, some stones are small enough to be passed with the help of some home remedies.

Instructions

    1

Drink water throughout the day. Distilled water (free of any bacteria or sediment) is best to drink. Consume at least eight glasses a day.

    2

Exercise daily. Do 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, such as biking, running or brisk walking. Your thirst will increase, which will mean more water consumption to aid in clearing your body of toxins, including that pesky stone.

    3

Drink lemonade throughout the day in addition to water. According to the University of Wisconsin's Department of Clinical Nutrition Services, the citric acid in the lemonade helps dissolve calcium-based kidney stones. If lemonade is not readily available or you do not like the taste, occasionally add a couple of lemon slices to your water.

    4

Drink up to 2 cups of cherry juice a day. According to ScienceDaily, cherry juice is rich in potassium citrate, which reduces the buildup of uric acid and calcium salts that cause kidney stones.
