Home Remedy for Constipation Using Cayenne

Home Remedy for Constipation Using Cayenne

Constipation is not only physically uncomfortable, it can lead to a host of other complications, such as hemorrhoids and overall poor health. When we find ourselves afflicted with constipation, our first instinct is usually to run to the drug store and pick up an over-the-counter medication to relieve it. These medications, however, contain harsh chemicals that can be toxic to the body. For a natural home remedy for constipation, try using cayenne. Outside of being a spice, cayenne has many potent healing properties. It is a stimulant that increases the flow of blood and stomach secretions. Hydrochloric acid is one of these secretions, and we need this acid for proper digestion of food. Cayenne also coats and stimulates the movement of the digestive tract, which helps relieve constipation. If you are experiencing constipation, try one of these methods for relieving it with cayenne.

Instructions

    1
    Cayenne pepper powder

Measure out 1/4 tsp. of cayenne pepper powder and put into a teacup.

    2

Boil a teabag of your choice in 1 cup of water. Add the hot tea to the teacup and stir well. If you prefer not to use tea, you can use plain hot water for this step.

    3
    Cayenne tea

Drink the cup of hot cayenne tea with a meal. Cayenne can disturb the stomach as it works, so it is best to ingest it with food. If the cayenne tea is not easy for you to drink, try taking a cayenne capsule as in Step 4.

    4
    Cayenne capsules

Take one 40,000 HU (heat unit) cayenne capsule with a meal. Take the capsule once daily. (If your stomach is quite sensitive and the capsule causes a great deal of distress, lower your dose by taking a capsule with a lower HU. Cayenne capsules are available in 5,000 to 100,000 HUs.)
