Lemon Diet With Red Pepper

The lemon diet with red pepper, otherwise known as the Master Cleanse or Maple Syrup Diet, was created by Stanley Burroughs in 1941. It is a detoxification fast that aims to remove harmful toxins that have built up in the body from things like breathing in polluted air, eating processed foods, or drinking contaminated water. In addition to detoxifying the body, the lemon diet also helps its participants to shed unwanted weight. The lemon diet can be followed very easily with simple ingredients that are likely to already be found in your kitchen.

Lemon Diet Recipe

    The mainstay of the lemon diet is a drink made with 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/10 tablespoon of red cayenne pepper powder, 2 tablespoons of organic maple syrup grade B, and 10 ounces of distilled water. You can add more or less maple syrup as needed. However, people who are overweight should reduce their maple syrup intake, and people who are underweight should increase their maple syrup consumption.

    For the cleanse, drink six to twelve glasses of the lemon mixture a day. Do not eat any food or take any vitamins while on it. Along with the lemon drink, participants of the master cleanse diet are advised to drink a laxative tea before bedtime and drink a glass of salt water in the morning. The laxative tea and salt water aid the body in getting rid of toxins. The toxins are flushed from the body through urine and feces.

    The lemonade cleanse usually lasts up to seven days. It is in the participants discretion if they want to extend the lemon cleanse for a longer period of time. However, it is not recommended that the lemon cleanse be used for too long of a time period, as it does not adequately provide enough calories or nutrients to the body and can cause severe negative side effects, such as weakness and malnutrition.

Precautions

    People who should not partake in the lemon diet are pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and people who have underlying health conditions such as diabetes or a weakened immune system. People who are considering going on the lemon cleanse diet should consult with their primary care providers to determine if it is the right choice for them.
