How Does the Master Cleanse Diet Work?

Daytime Delight

There are a few steps involved with the Master Cleanse. The first part of this takes place during the day. A concoction consisting of water, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and lemon juice is made and is the only source of bodily nourishment. Generally you drink six to 12 glasses a day, and they are roughly just over 100 calories apiece.

Stay Close to Home

One of the main functions of the Master Cleanse is to detox the system. This is truly evidenced by the other parts of the cleanse. It's not the drinking that causes this, it's the consequences that ensue. During the nighttime, you drink an herbal laxative tea along with a quart of salt water first thing in the morning. This helps to cleanse the colon and further detox the body of impurities. The intense part is the fact that there are frequent trips to the bathroom during this whole process. It is not a good idea to be far from a bathroom when doing this cleanse.

Get Thin Quick Plan

Following the Master Cleanse for 10 days will cause fast weight loss. The body is not getting starved since the lemonade drink has calories, but it is a reduced amount of calories. There is also no real food being eaten. With that being the case, liquid is a lot easier for the body to assimilate, especially when it is lighter and clearer, as is the case with the Master Cleanse. This in turn causes rapid weight loss.

Animal Free

The last part of the Master Cleanse is introducing food back into the diet. It is recommended to be a raw food vegetarian after the cleanse. This type of eating has been known to be higher in vitamins and minerals, higher in fiber and also less taxing on the digestive system.
