Juice-Based Detox Diet

Juice-Based Detox Diet

A juice-based detox diet is actually not as strict as it sounds. Not only do you drink juice, but you can also eat certain foods during your detox. A juice detox diet will help flush toxins out of your body. You will feel better much better after your juice detox.

Day One

The first day of your detox diet will be the hardest. On your first day, you should drink fruit or vegetable juice every four hours. This is the only day where you can't eat any solid food. You can also drink purified water or herbal teas. Avoid caffeine and don't sweeten your tea.

Day Two

For day two (and every other day in the seven-day detox diet), you will drink fruit or vegetable juice every four hours. You can eat up to three bananas and you can also eat up to 1 lb. of grapes. It is best to space your food throughout the day to help keep you satisfied.

Day Three

On the third day of your detox diet you can eat a serving of fruit and a serving of raw vegetables. You can pick any fruit or vegetable that you want. You can also have up to three bananas and 1 lb. of grapes. Don't forget to drink your juice every four hours.

Days Four Through Seven

The remaining days of your detox diet are the most flexible. For these last four days, you can eat whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds. You can also eat the same foods that you ate in the previous two days. It isn't recommended to do this diet for longer than one or two weeks. It is important not to starve yourself and to make sure that you are getting all the nutrition that you need.

After the Detox

After your detox diet, try to eat a healthy diet. Eat whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, low fat dairy and lean protein. Avoid high fat foods, junk foods, refined sugar, and too much caffeine or alcohol. This will help the benefits of your juice detox to last longer because you are putting fewer toxins back into your body.

Make sure that you check with your doctor before beginning any diet, especially a detox diet. Discuss the implications it could have on any medical conditions you have. Your doctor may suggest modifications to make the detox diet more appropriate for you.
