Step-by-Step Guide for the Master Cleanser

The master cleanse is a way to flush your body of toxins and jump start a healthy lifestyle. Drinking only a mixture of fresh lemon juice, pure maple syrup, cayenne pepper and distilled water you can revitalize your body and ease into eating a more healthy diet. Proponents of the cleanse say by fasting, drinking only the lemonade concoction, you will begin to feel more healthy and experience higher levels of energy. After 10 days on the lemonade, you can ease off to a healthier diet containing plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Set a goal and revamp your lifestyle with the challenge of a master cleanse.

    Schedule your master cleanse for a time in your life that is not hectic. The master cleanse lasts for a total of 16 days. Three days to ease in, 10 days of drinking the master cleanse lemonade and three days to ease off the diet.

    Ease into the master cleanse for a total of three days. Eliminate meat, dairy and processed foods from your diet on day one. Drink plenty of water and eat a diet of 60 percent vegetables and 40 percent fruits. Day two, enjoy soups, broths and plenty of water. Day three drink fresh-squeezed orange juice accompanied by plenty of water throughout the day. Drink a cup of laxative tea the night of day three.

    Prepare and drink a cup of laxative tea first thing in the morning. Follow with a salt water flush. Mix 1 tbsp of sea salt with 3 cups of warm water; drink quickly until finished. The specific gravity in the salt water mixture will make it go through your system, cleaning out your colonic tract and it will clean quickly and forcefully. Several eliminations may occur and may last for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, so give yourself plenty of time before planning to leave your house.It's recommended you do the salt water cleanse each morning for the entire 10 days of the diet.

    Drink laxative tea each night before the salt water flush. If you do not wish to do the salt water flush, you will need to drink the laxative tea twice a day, once at night and once in the morning. Laxative tea or the flush are necessary to eliminate toxins released by the fast. If you don't eliminate these toxins you might get quite ill.

    Mix the 2 tbsp fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice, 2 tbsp pure maple syrup and 1/10th tsp cayenne pepper in 8 ounces of distilled water; stir in a 10 ounce glass. Enjoy this drink 6-12 times a day as needed when hungry for 10 days. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Syrup needs to be pure maple grade A, AA or AAA or B. This syrup may only be available at a health food store. Don't use maple-flavored grocery store syrups. Lemon juice needs to be fresh-squeezed, don't use frozen or bottled. Cayenne pepper helps loosen and release toxins in the body.

    Exercise when you feel up to it. Some people may not feel like doing much during a cleanse, yet others get a burst of energy. Do low impact exercise such as yoga, Pilate's or walking.

    Ease off the lemonade on day 11. Instead of lemonade drink fresh-squeezed orange juice. Make a soup of a variety of fresh vegetables and enjoy the following day. Eat small portions of fresh vegetables and fruits the last day.
