How to Return to Healthy Eating After a Binge

How to Return to Healthy Eating After a Binge

Even the most disciplined of healthy eaters fall off of the fruit truck sometimes. The important thing to remember is that you must pick yourself back up and regain control of your healthy lifestyle. Some people find that after a binge, returning to a healthy diet seems almost impossible. Learn how to eat right and feel good about your diet and lifestyle despite your recent slip.

Instructions

    1

Forgive yourself for your recent binge of unhealthy eating habits. Know that it is bound to happen and that every once in a while it is even advisable to stray from your diet a bit. You are a human being and will make mistakes. Recognize that certain events like vacations, holidays, and stress can contribute to diet slip-ups.

    2

Eliminate any remains of the unhealthy food from your home if you have them in the house. Throw away any items that are not on your healthy-eating list; typically it means removing items that are not fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, grains or lean meats.

    3

Write in a journal about how you feel about diverging from your health food plan. Discuss any feelings you might have about your caloric intake. Make a vow to yourself to stick to your plan as best you can from this point on and put it somewhere in your house you can look at it every day.

    4

Visit the grocery store or organic food market and restock on fresh items. Purchase plenty of vegetables and fruits to help you to re-energize your body with essential vitamins and anti-oxidants. Consider doing a cleanse to rid your body of the preservatives or toxic food elements you may have taken in while diverging from your plan. Ask a health food professional or doctor what type of cleanse is best for your needs.

    5

Drink plenty of water and rehydrate the body, many people resort back to unhealthy drinks such as soda or alcohol and need to rehydrate the body to get it back on track for healthy living. Get back into a regular exercise routine if you also took a break from this during your break from your healthy lifestyle.
