Lemonade Diet & Salt Water Cleanse

The lemonade diet and salt water cleanse is most commonly known as The Master Cleanse and has been around for years. Due to celebrity endorsements, it has enjoyed renewed popularity, and it is known for helping drop a substantial amount of weight in 10 days. Although very few are able to complete it because of its drastic restriction in calories, those who do claim to have an increase in energy and overall well-being.

Starting Lemonade Diet

To begin the lemonade diet and salt water cleanse, you should start to wean yourself off of foods a few days prior to starting. This will help to cut down on hunger pains and food cravings as you begin the diet. Start three days before the cleanse, eating nothing but raw fruits and vegetables on the first day, pure fruit and vegetable juices the second day and 2 liters of pure orange juice and 2 tbsp. of maple syrup for calories on the third day.

On the fourth day, you are ready to start the lemonade diet and salt water cleanse. Create the lemonade in the morning so you consume it all day. To create a day's serving of lemonade, combine 2 liters of water, 14 tbsp. of fresh lemon juice, 14 tbsp. of Grade B organic maple syrup and 1/2 tsp. of cayenne pepper. Mix together and split into two servings of 1 liter each.

Drink the lemonade throughout the day, drinking filtered water in-between servings. This will help keep food cravings away and provide a feeling of fullness throughout the day. Pace yourself while drinking the liters of lemonade because this is all you will consume all day.

Salt Water Cleanse

The salt water cleanse is a major proponent of the Master Cleanse. It works like a laxative, keeping things flowing while the body does not consume food. It also helps flush out buildup, giving you the feeling of lightness in the bowels.

To create the salt water mixture, combine 1 tbsp. of sea salt with 1 liter of water and mix well to dissolve the salt. Drink the entire serving at once in the evenings, each day of the cleanse.

While the salt water cleanse is effective in clearing the bowels, long-term use is not suggested because it may disrupt natural bacteria levels in the stomach and digestive tract. The Master Cleanse is only to be done for 10 days, so never exceed that time.

Finishing Lemonade Diet

If you were able to finish the entire 10 days of the Master Cleanse, you need to be very careful in re-introducing foods back into the diet. Even if you did the lemonade diet for a few days, you need to be careful when eating solid foods.

To begin eating natural foods, ease back into them as you did before the cleanse. Start the first day drinking only orange juice with maple syrup, then the second day drink only vegetable and fruit juices. The third day, you can begin to eat raw fruits and vegetables and then slowly eat whole grains and proteins on the fourth day.

After any cleanse or fasting period, choose to eat more natural and healthy foods to keep nutrition levels high and the body free of processed or refined foods.
