How to Eliminate Uric Acid

Uric acid is a chemical waste product that circulates in your blood as a result of the breakdown of purines. Purines are natural substances found in food and in your cells. They are especially high in meats and alcoholic beverages. When your body contains too much purines, uric acid rises and can lead to gout, which is the formation of crystals in the joints. Employ the correct methods to safely and effectively eliminate excess uric acid.

Instructions

    1

Quit drinking alcohol. It is notorious for raising uric acid levels in your blood. If you feel the need to drink, drink 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar, which can help stifle your cravings for alcohol. It can also help eliminate uric acid deposits. Additionally, avoid drinking non-alcoholic beverages, since all non-alcoholic wines and beers contain some alcohol.

    2

Avoid eating too much purine-rich food. When purines are broken down completely, they turn into uric acid. Meats including lamb, beef and pork are rich in purines. Instead, consume foods low in purines such as rice, pasta, broccoli, tofu and juices and fruits.

    3

Drink two glasses of water with plenty of lemon juice every day. Lemons are rich in ascorbic acid (vitamin C). This vitamin can help dissolve uric acid, eliminating it from your body via urine. Squeeze five to six lemons into a glass of water. You won't be making lemonade, so avoid adding sugar since it can aggravate your pancreas and increase uric acid production.

    4

Eliminate uric acid by eating one cup of cherries every day. Anthocyanins is the active ingredient of cherries, which gives them their dark red color. Anthocyanins are known to reduce uric acid. Avoid adding cherries to pastries or bathing them in sweetened syrups since the high sugar content can spike uric acid levels in your blood.

    5

Add plenty of fiber to your diet. Fiber can help eliminate uric acid in the blood by binding it with cholesterol and flushing it out through feces. Eat one cup of foods high in fiber such as corn, apples, bananas, cabbage and avocados.
