In the 1990's, Jones Organic Soda Company made a splash in the beverage industry by offering a new type of soda with a focus on health. Jones started a movement that resulted in a number of new companies coming forward with competing products. Organic sodas provide all the fizz and refreshment of typical sodas without artificial flavorings, preservatives, caffeine, phosphoric acid and artificial sweeteners. Jones works directly with the public to receive flavor suggestions and artwork for their packaging designs. Santa Cruz Organic produces its line of organic soda using renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines. The company is an official Green-E certified business and they recycle 96% of the refuse that they produce. Santa Cruz Organic's line of USDA certified organic sparkling beverages includes Lemon Lime and Pomegranate Limeade as well as traditional flavors such as Root Beer and Ginger Ale. No artificial ingredients are ever used in the development of Santa Cruz organic's beverage recipes.

Whole Earth Foods Sparkling Organic Soda

Whole Earth Foods is best known as an organic-focused supermarket chain with locations throughout the United States. The company manufactures a line of soda named after itself and sold exclusively in their retail locations. Key selling points of their soda line include the fact that they use no artificial colors or flavors and that their sodas are suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Flavors include Sparkling Organic Lemonade, Sparkling Organic Cola, Sparkling Organic Elderflower, Sparkling Organic Ginger, Sparkling Organic Cranberry and Sparkling Organic Apple and Raspberry.

Main Root

Main Root has been in the organic soda business since 2007 and focuses its efforts between New England and Texas. Fans of Main Root who do not live within those areas can purchase the company's products online via their official website. Main Root sweetens its soda with organic evaporated cane juice that is made using a special process that passes cane through a set of rollers and then dries the extract into crystals. No extra processing occurs and no additives are added. To help protect the environment, bio-diesel fuel is used to operate most of the machinery and vehicles that the company uses. Main Root soda flavors include Root Beer, Ginger Brew, Sarsaparilla, Blueberry, Mandarin Orange and Lemon Lime.
