Lemon Honey Oil Colon Detox

Lemon Honey Oil Colon Detox

Colon detoxification (detox) is an alternative medical therapy intended to remove waste and toxins from the colon and intestinal tract. There are a number of products and methods available for colon detox. A popular choice is the use of lemon, honey and oil.

Lemon honey oil detox is an all-natural recipe, free of any harsh chemicals.

History

Cleansing of the colon can be traced back to the Egyptians. They believed toxins formed as a result of decomposition in the intestines. The decomposed material then moves into the circulatory system causing ill-health. This process is considered "auto-intoxication", the idea that food enters the intestine and rots.

As advancements in the scientific community failed to show support of colon detox benefits, it fell out of favor. However, in recent years the practice of colon cleansing and detoxification has undergone a resurgence in the alternative medical community. The community claims there is anecdotal evidence of the benefits of colon cleansing and detox.

Things You'll Need

The lemon honey oil detox recipe is a variation of the Master Cleanse developed in 1941 by Stephen Burroughs. For it, you will need two tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice, one tablespoon of honey (preferably organic), one tablespoon of olive oil, ten ounces of distilled water and 1/10 tablespoon of cayenne pepper powder (optional).

Mix all ingredients and enjoy. There are several opinions on the duration and daily quantity you should consume. Strong proponents of the drink recommend consuming only this concoction for a week to seven days under the supervision of a qualified naturopath or herbalist. A more realistic approach often practiced is drinking one glass of the lemon honey oil detox drink in the morning on an empty stomach. This can be done safely on a daily basis. However, it is always advised to consult your physician before beginning any new diet regimen.

Benefits

Lemons are very high in vitamin C, which improves the body's ability to remove toxins. Herbalists believe that when taken regularly lemons act as a tonic to the liver and stimulates it to better perform its daily digestive and cleansing functions. Lemons are also believed to dissolve gallstones and are a superior body alkalizer.

Honey offers antioxidant and cleansing properties for our bodies. Its sweet taste also softens the bitterness of lemon juice.

Olive oil is thought to have a mild laxative effect, and cayenne pepper increases metabolism and suppresses hunger while your body is enjoying the cleansing process.

While the jury is still out on the value and necessity of colon cleansing and detoxification, it may be a wise choice to go with an all-natural option such as the lemon honey oil method.
