How to Start a Total Detox

How to Start a Total Detox

There are several benefits to enduring a total detox. Beyond the physical benefit, detoxification also promotes mental clarity. Before and during your total detox, it is imperative to avoid particular "trigger" foods. Trigger foods are any foods with the potential for addiction. Sugary, salty foods, simple carbohydrates, white flour, alcohol and caffeinated drinks are typical.

While the detox itself is relatively easy, the difficulty exists in the withdrawal that you may encounter in the beginning of the program. The intensity and length of your withdrawal symptoms are contingent upon the quantity of your usual intake of caffeine, sugar, salt and carbohydrates. Nevertheless, how you start the detox may very well determine how successfully you will endure it.

Wean yourself in advance. Based on your usual diet and intake of "trigger foods," a preliminary wean is the ultimate way to "start a total detox." Removal of these particular foods two weeks prior to your anticipated start date will minimize the intensity of your withdrawal symptoms. Week 1: Eliminate sugar, salt and alcoholic beverages. Week 2: Eliminate carbohydrates and meats. Week 3: start the detox.

Drink the concoction at a minimum of three to four times daily, followed by 8 oz. of distilled water. Although "How to Detox" suggests drinking the mixture throughout the day.
