Frozen Drink Recipes

For impressing friends at a summertime party or simply cooling off in the warm weather, alcoholic and non-alcoholic frozen drinks are ideal. Because ice can mask how strong the alcohol can be, recipes should specify the number of servings and list the approximate alcohol content so you can adjust just how much alcohol you want. Also note that some alcoholic ingredients may be brand-specific, while others are not. For dozens more recipes for frozen drinks, visit the website mentioned in Resources. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Frozen Peach Daiquiri

This recipe yields one serving. Mix 1 oz. of light rum, oz. of Curacao liqueur, oz. of lime juice, tbsp. of sugar and half of a fresh peach in a blender with a cup of shaved ice, and serve in a white wine glass. This drink contains roughly 23 percent alcohol.

Frozen Margarita

For two servings. On a high setting, blend together 3 oz. of white tequila, 1 oz. of triple-sec (orange liqueur), 2 oz. of lime juice and 1 cup of ice. Next, coat the rim of a cocktail glass with lime juice and dip the rim in coarse salt. Pour the margarita in the glass and serve, garnished with lime. This drink contains roughly 23 percent alcohol.

Frozen Black Irish

This recipe yields one serving. Mix together in a blender 1 oz. of coffee liqueur, 1 oz. of Irish cream liqueur, oz. vodka, 2 tbsp. of vanilla ice cream and a half cup of crushed ice. Blend until smooth and serve with a mint sprig garnish in a double cocktail glass. This drink works great by itself as a dessert. The Frozen Black Irish contains about 18 percent alcohol.

Creamy Screwdriver

This refreshing drink is also low in alcohol content and can serve one or two people. Mix in a blender at low speed 2 oz. of vodka, 6 oz. of orange juice, 1 tbsp. of sugar 1 egg yolk and cup crushed ice. Serve in a Collins glass. Alcohol content is only about 8 percent.

Mock Margarita

On the healthier side, the mock margarita is non-alcoholic and has only 58 calories per serving. Slowly blend 6 oz. of frozen limeade concentrate, cup orange juice and 2/3 cup unsweetened grapefruit juice. Gradually add about 4 cups of crushed ice. As with any margarita, serve in a glass whose rim has been dipped in lime juice and salt. Garnish with lime or lemon slice if desired. This recipe will yield eight 4 oz. servings of alcohol-free drink.
