How to Cleanse the Colon Quickly

Although colon cleanses can involve extended lifestyle changes, many people are not in a position to do a fast or become vegans for life, but they still want to benefit from this detoxifying process. For this reason, there are colon-cleansing techniques that are quick and will not interrupt your current routine. Colonic irrigations only take a half-hour, and herbal non-habit-forming laxatives can force waste out within a day or two, even if your normal diet is not altered.

Instructions

    1

Take the herbal laxative pills until you have regular bowel movements. If you already have bowel movements more than once daily, skip this step, but according to Dr. Richard Schultze, an authority on natural medicine, 97 percent of his patients need to do this first.

    2

Take the colon-cleansing pills, and continue to take the laxative pills if needed. Drink your weight in ounces of distilled water each day.

    3

Get an enema or colonic irrigation treatment if needed to keep your bowel movements regular, especially if the cleanse is done in conjunction with a water or juice fast. If your bowel movements during the colon cleanse become less frequent than once daily, this step may be necessary to prevent toxic buildup.

    4

The colon cleanse ends after a set number of days or when the cleansing tablets have all been consumed. Return to your normal diet slowly, or you could have cramping. You may not want to return to your old diet, depending on your results.

    5

Stop drinking distilled water following the colon cleanse, as it lacks minerals that your body needs in the long term. Stop taking the herbal laxative pills once regularity has been established--they are not supposed to be habit forming.
