How to Make a Homemade Detox Drink

Detoxification is the process of eliminating and stabilizing toxins in the body. Toxins are derived from foods, medications, beverages and even the air we breathe. By detoxifying the body, you can rid your digestive tract, respiratory system, colon, and skin of these damaging toxins. You can detoxify your body in several ways--capsules, a fruit and vegetable diet, and beverages. Detoxification beverages are among the most common way to rid the body of toxins, and can be made in the convenience of your own home.

The Power of Cranberries

    Measure 1 cup of spring water, and 2 tbsp. of unsweetened cranberry juice into a glass. Cranberry juice cleanses the urinary tract, flushes toxins from the body and assists in the elimination of store fat cells.

    Measure 1 tsp. of barley green powder into the cranberry juice and water. Stir ingredients for about two minutes. Barley green powder is gentle on the digestive tract and allows essential vitamins and nutrients to be absorbed by the body.

    Consume beverage two times daily--morning and night--for best results.

Sweet Apple Cider Detoxification

    Boil 2 cups of water in a pot on the stove. Once it comes to a boil, remove the pot from the burner, and let cool for five minutes.

    Pour the hot water into a glass. Measure 2 tbsp. honey and add it to the glass of water. Stir honey and water for three minutes.

    Measure 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar and pour it into the glass containing the water and honey. Stir once more to blend all of the ingredients. Apple cider vinegar contains vitamins, such as potassium, magnesium and calcium, that are necessary to rid the body of harmful toxins and chemicals. Apple cider can dissolve harmful toxins, such as uric acid, which is chronically associated with muscle and join pain.

    Consume this apple cider detoxification beverage twice daily--morning and night.

Vanilla Blueberry Yogurt Cleansing

    Measure 2 1/2 cups of vanilla yogurt and 1 cup of milk into a blender. If you prefer plain yogurt, you can use that instead.

    Measure 1/2 cup of blueberries and add them to ingredients in blender. Blueberries are a natural antioxidant that can help fight free radicals. Free radicals damage cell membranes and are associated with the aging process.

    Place the lid on the blender and blend the milk, yogurt and blueberries on a low speed for 15 seconds. This will help blend the ingredients and allow room inside blender to add the ice cubes.

    Add six to eight ice cubes and blend all of the ingredients on a high setting until the ice is crushed.

    Consume beverage as often as desired.
