Organic Body Detox

Detoxification occurs naturally through the skin and lungs, the liver, kidneys, colon and bladder.
To assist these organs with detoxification, eat a detox diet of fresh organic vegetables and fruits and whole grains. Drinking filtered water and herbal teas of organic dandelion leaf, burdock root, yellow dock or cascara sagrada will cleanse the liver, blood and colon.

Dry skin brushing

The skin is the body's largest organ. It sloughs off dead cells continuously every 28 days. If you are doing a detoxification program, start with your skin.
Use a stiff boar bristle brush made from natural fibers, as synthetic is too harsh on the skin. Unlike a scrub brush for the bath or shower, this brush remains dry. Before bathing, briskly brush the body from the feet toward the heart. Work from the front of the body to the head and continue from the back to the front.

Organic Detox Diet

Rather than juicing and drinking only tea, be more gentle in your detoxification by eating organic vegetarian foods. This will give you adequate calories, vitamins and minerals to work as you pursue your detox regimen.
Eat fresh organic fruits and vegetables raw, broiled, steamed or baked. Do not fry anything. Steam organic whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, millet, wheat groats and oats.
Continue the detox diet for up to two weeks. Do not skip meals. If you feel weak, add organic legumes, fish, eggs or yogurt.

Detox herbs

Drinking organic herbal teas such as dandelion leaf, red clover, burdock root and yellow dock will accelerate your detoxification by cleansing the liver and blood. It is easy to find commercial teas labeled "detox tea" in any health food store or online.
Be careful if senna or cascara sagrada appear on the ingredient label. Too much can cause diarrhea.
