Super Lemon Body Detox

The purpose of a detox is to flush the toxins out of the body, and one of the best detoxifying "diets," made popular by singer Beyonce Knowles, is the Super Lemon Body Detox (also known as the Lemonade Detox and the Master Cleanse Detox). This a simple detox, according to Detox.net.au, meant to "both cleanse and nourish the body at the same time." The ingredients, proper usage and results of the detox are an integral reason for its popularity.

Ingredients

According to themastercleanse.org, "Very few ingredients are required, however the quality of the ingredients is important." Use entirely organic ingredients, without any additives or preservatives. There are two, three-day phases and also the two-day Super Lemon Body Detox phase, and recipes for each phase. The first and final phases , the ease-in and ease-out, require eating oranges, cabbage, spinach, carrots and tomatoes. The second, the actual detox/diet phase, calls for 2 large lemons, 7/8 cup (14 tbsp) of grade B maple syrup, 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper, unrefined sea salt and 2 liters of purified water.

Proper Use

The ease-in/ease-out are not part of the original detox and are optional, but can be done to prepare the body for the detox and to ease out of detoxification mode. Themastercleanse.org's general guideline for the ease-in state: "Day 1 - salads and live foods (nuts and seeds); Day 2 - veggie juices and broths (soups); Day 3 - orange juice." They suggest reversing the order when you are breaking the detox at the end.
The lemon detox segment should be done for a maximum of two days each time and between three to four times per year. For the lemon detox, juice the lemons and add 7 tablespoons of the juice and the 14 tablespoons of maple syrup into each liter of water. The cayenne can be added to the juice mix or taken in capsule form periodically throughout the day. Drink as much water along with the lemon detox as you like. The sea salt is for an optional saline flush, very much like a saline laxative. Try as little as a teaspoon of salt to a liter of water to begin, and depending on your results you can increase it up to a tablespoon. Do not do the saline flush more than one time during each detox period.

Results

Besides the loss of water weight, the Lemon Detox cleans the bowels, helps balance pH levels in the body and can help rejuvenate you. Though no clinical trials have been done, mastercleanseweightloss.com claims that on average between 15 and 40 pounds can be lost on the cleanse. But don't be hung up on what may be unrealistic numbers in your particular case, and instead be happy with whatever loss you experience, and maintain a healthy diet to retain it. Weight loss is not the only benefit.
