How to Make a Victorian Ginger Lemonade

Victorian Lemonade is a specific brand of lemonade drink produced by the Fentiman's Company. The lemonade features a distinct lemon and ginger flavor. The drink, which originated in the United Kingdom, is inspired by drinks from India and the Caribbean. Victorian Lemonade is available in limited quantities in the United States. However, you can make a copy of it with natural ingredients such as fresh ginger and honey. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

    1

Peel the ginger root and cut it into approximately 1/4-inch pieces.

    2

Place the chopped ginger and the honey into the glass bowl and pour 2 cups of boiling water over the mixture. Stir to dissolve the honey.

    3

Place a plate over the bowl. Allow the mixture to steep 30 to 45 minutes.

    4

Roll the first lemon on the counter while pressing with your hand.

    5

Cut the lemon in half. Hold the lemon half over the bowl and press the reamer into the flesh of the lemon. Twist the reamer in the flesh of the lemon until all the juice is released.

    6

Pour the juice through a strainer into a measuring cup. Repeat with the second half of the lemon and any other lemons until you have 1/2 cup of juice.

    7

Pour the lemon juice into the glass pitcher. Pour the ginger and honey mixture through the strainer and into the pitcher. Add 2 cups of cold water. Stir with a spoon with a long handle.

    8

Fill all four glasses with crushed ice. Pour the lemonade over the ice and garnish with a slice of fresh lemon.
