Hydroxycut Effectiveness

Hydroxycut Effectiveness

Hydroxycut is a brand of weight loss products that was recalled in May 2009. The FDA recalled most Hydroxycut products following one death and over 20 cases of severe liver damage. Hydroxycut has since been replaced with a line of products called Hydroxycut Advanced, a comparable product with a slightly changed formula. Although severe liver damage was a potential side effect, Hydroxycut and now Hydroxycut Advanced have helped many people in temporarily achieving their weight loss goals. Both versions of Hydroxycut claim to boost metabolism, burn fat and suppress the appetite.

How It Works

Hydroxycut products contain various stimulants such as caffeine, plant extracts and other patented formulas. Prior to is banning in 2004, ephedrine was also an ingredient on the formula list. Hydroxycut ingredients cause thermogenesis in the body, causing calories to burn while suppressing the appetite.

Criticism

Despite the products' definite contribution as a weight loss aid, Hydroxycut has endured severe criticism. Obvious criticism ensued after the FDA recalls in 2009 and many lawsuits against the company were filed as result. Another consumer complaint about the drug was weight regain after they stopped using the product. Some reported gaining back more than their original weight before beginning a Hydroxycut regimen, despite continuing diet and exercise.

Products

The new Hydroxycut Advanced product line includes Thermogenic Hydroxycut Advanced, a powder that is added to liquid, in lemonade and berry flavors. Also available is the new 100% Premium Acai powder, claiming to be a super antioxidant and metabolic enhancement product. There are also pill versions of the supplement and a line of cleansing systems for men and women.

Availability and Pricing

Hydroxycut products are widely available through health stores such as GNC, drug stores and online. Hydroxycut is now only available in the advanced formula and one should use extreme caution when purchasing by checking the product brand. Any Hydroxycut products manufactured prior to the recall should be returned to the company for a refund. Pricing can range from $24.99 to $59.99 depending on the product.
