Miracle Enzyme Lemonade Detox

Miracle Enzyme Lemonade Detox

The Miracle Enzyme Lemonade Detox program is designed to clean out your intestines, particularly your digestive tract. The program includes lemonade, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup. It was first created by Stanley Burroughs and he claims it is far superior to any other form of cleansing process. Variations of the cleanse have been found to be effective. The theory is the digestive tract and body are given a rest to try and get rid of toxins that have built up from bad eating habits and stress.

How to detox

To do the detox, mix eight ounces of water, half a lemon, (approximately two tablespoons), two tablespoons of maple syrup, and a tenth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
Drink six to twelve glasses of the mixtures a day for ten days. While you are on the program you should not take any vitamin pills or eat any other food.
The lemons and cayenne peppers are the cleansing agents. Cayenne pepper is high in vitamins and minerals. Maple syrup is used for minerals. A lime can be substituted for the lemon, as it is also high in vitamins and minerals. The program can be done three to four times a year.

Effectiveness and Risks

Many people who start the program report flu-like symptoms. Dr. Burroughs attributes this to the body cleansing itself. He says if you are not feeling well it is probably because you are not going to the bathroom enough. You should have three to four bowel movements a day. If this is a problem, you can take some herbal tea or take a salt water bath.
Severe side effects are rare. The most common complaints from any detox plan are fatigue and lethargy from not eating. Long periods of detox can have the same effects as fasting. That's when your body starts to feed on your muscle. If this is happening, you may experience headaches, bad breath, and constipation.

Change it up

I don't know about you, but for me having nothing in my system but lemonade for almost two weeks sounds nearly impossible. I have also heard that cayenne pepper tastes terrible and is very hot. Some people report having great success with cayenne pepper pills. They took the 450 mg tablets. They also ate two fruits and two vegetables every day. In a group of eight office workers who tried it, only one was able to stay on it for seven days. She reported losing 12 pounds and getting some relief from pain in her joints, especially her knees. Dr. Elson Haas, a physician out of California, tried it and said he lost 20 pounds, his allergies went away, and he started eating very differently. It all sounds like it's worth a try, but the biggest challenge is sticking with it.
