About Lemonade Fasts

The lemonade fast was originally developed by Stanley Burroughs in 1941. Considered a pioneer in holistic medicine, Burroughs encouraged the healing of disease through cleansing and detoxification. The inventor believed that by eliminating toxins, the body could in turn rejuvenate itself and run more efficiently, allowing for the buildup of immunities. Because the lemonade mixture is consumed exclusively during the fast, and easily conforms to the body's natural chemistry, energy that would normally be used to aide in the digestion of solid foods could instead be fully reserved for the purposes of healing and increasing metabolism.
