How to Eat a Lemon

Lemons are very versatile. You can use them in both sweet and savory recipes. On their own, they tend to be very sour. Added to a dessert, they give a nice tangy flavor. Lemons can also be used to replace other citrus fruits in several recipes. Try a few of the ideas listed here to enjoy eating a lemon. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

    1

Combine butter and herbs with some fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Store the mixed butter in ice cube trays in the refrigerator. Eat herbed lemon butter on fish or place it on top of prepared vegetables.

    2

Squeeze fresh lemon juice into your salad dressing. It can be used in place of vinegar or even in addition to it.

    3

Grate the very outside layer of rind to create lemon zest. This adds a tasty lemon flavor to cakes, pies and tarts. Add the juice of the same lemon to the dessert for an even stronger flavor.

    4

Marinate chicken or fish in lemon and herbs before preparing. Lemon pairs well with herbs like dill, oregano and tarragon. Place either the juice of a lemon or thinly sliced lemons into a zip-top bag with the meat and herbs. Leave it in the refrigerator overnight before cooking and eating.

    5

Slice a lemon into small wedges or slices. Place the lemon pieces into ice water or tea for flavor.

    6

Make lemonade. A popular way to eat and enjoy lemons is to extract the juice, add sugar and water and pour over ice cubes.
