How to Detox With a Multivitamin

How to Detox With a Multivitamin

According to BodyHealth.com, an online drugstore, the body is exposed to foreign chemicals every day. Fish is laced with mercury, red meat often contains antibiotics and hormones, the air is polluted and water contains impurities. These toxins build up. The Mayo Clinic's Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., states that while not completely proven, detox diets can rid the body of these toxins by flushing, improve concentration, general health and aid weight loss. The problem is that the body strips itself of nutrients in this diet, so a multivitamin becomes key. This diet should only be used for a short time, preferably 24 to 72 hours.

Instructions

    1

Consult a physician to be sure your body is capable of handling an "extreme" diet, such as a juice cleanse. Create a fasting journal where you outline your day into five sections: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner. Write "multivitamin" in your breakfast sections every day and check your label to make sure if you can take it without food.

    2

Take your multivitamin and drink water. Stay hydrated throughout the day. Zeratsky warns that dehydration is a risk involved in fasts and cleanses. Avoid the risk of eating protein or carbohydrates on this fast, as the multivitamin is loaded with folic acid. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, eating cereal or protein bars while taking a multivitamin can overload your body with too much of a good thing.

    3

Drink a glass of all natural, pulp-free fruit juice in the morning. Drink water in addition. If you feel the need to chew, try freezing fruit juice and blending it into a smoothie.

    4

Snack with a cup of broth, which is low in calories, easy on digestion and full of flavor. Remain calm through any hunger pains. According to Detoxforlife.com, dieting can cause hunger pangs and swinging blood sugar levels. Chromium in your supplement helps use fat and retards fluctuating blood sugar levels.

    5

Drink more water and fruit juice for lunch. As a general rule, for every five to eight glasses of water your drink, have a cup of broth to replenish lost electrolytes through intense hydration.

    6

Snack by having another fruit juice frozen smoothie. To keep yourself interested, try mixing different juices to find your favorite blend. Have dinner before it gets dark by having broth, fruit juice and some more water. Keep yourself to strictly water after dinner.
