Lemonade and Cayenne Pepper Diet

Also known as the Maple Syrup Diet or the Lemonade Cleanse, the basis of any Lemon Detox diet consists of lemon juice, water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. The diet provides nutrients needed to eject toxins naturally and rejuvenate the digestive system without feeling hungry.

The Lemon Detox

Associated with many names, the Lemon Detox has been enjoyed by thousands of people in over 30 countries around the world who have cleansed their body of toxins and have lost weight. The Lemon Detox is liquid food that nourishes and energizes the body.
Digesting solid food burns up much of the body's energy and dominates many of its other tasks. In the absence of solid food, the body can focus its energy on cleansing. Throughout history, experience has shown a periodic restraint from solid food is a good health investment and can promote a longer span of life.

Drink Preparation

The Lemonade and Cayenne Pepper Diet is easy to prepare and can be enjoyed hot or cold. To make your drink, you will need the following:

300 ml (10 fl oz) filtered water
1 tsp organic grade B maple syrup or optional cinnamon stick
2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice from 1/2 lemon
    Small pinch of cayenne pepper

Mix together the lemon juice, water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Consume 4 glasses throughout the day with no other food or beverages for 1 to 3 weeks. The amount of weight you can expect to lose will vary depending on your height and body weight.

Lemons are a good source of Vitamin C and the acidity assists the cleansing process. Never use canned or frozen lemon juice. Thawing destroys Vitamin C levels and the time canned foods spend on the shelf affects their nutritional value. The best results come from using fresh organic lemons.
A pinch of cayenne pepper to the diet adds a punch to the flavor and speeds cleansing and elimination. The capsaicin in cayenne pepper also helps to regulate blood sugar levels. In place of cayenne pepper, you can also use fresh ginger.
Grade B maple syrup is recommended for detox because Grade A is overprocessed. The syrup adds a sweet taste for those who find the drink too bitter. Maple syrup also adds a shot of zinc and magnesium that boosts metabolism. As an option to maple syrup, you can stir a cinnamon stick into your lemon juice. Research has shown that cinnamon can help balance blood sugar.
