Diet After the Master Cleanse

Diet After the Master Cleanse

Since the Master Cleanse is basically a fast, where all you consume for a minimum of ten days is lemon juice, organic maple syrup and cayenne pepper, you can not abruptly stop the cleanse and return to solid foods. This would be a harsh adjustment for the digestive system, so returning to a solid food diet must be done gradually. If spicy, solid food is consumed before the body is ready for it, nausea may occur.

The First Two Days After The Master Cleanse

    Orange juice

The first day that you go off the Master Cleanse, drink orange juice. Stanley Burroughs, originator of the Master Cleanse, recommends drinking it slowly. If you wish, you may dilute the orange juice with water.

The second day after ending the diet, consume orange juice during the day, but in the evening have a vegetable broth or soup for dinner. No chemicals or additives should be taken back into the body, so it is best to prepare your own vegetable soup by boiling carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, and/or any other fresh vegetables that you wish. You can use dehydrated vegetables, but not canned.

Days Three and Four

    Raw veggie salad

On day three, start the day with your orange juice, and have the soup for lunch. At dinner you can have salad, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit. To stay away from chemicals, which you detoxed out of your body during the Master Cleanse, you should use oil and vinegar for your salad dressing. Vegetables should be consumed raw, but boil them if necessary. Do not eat any meat, grains, or dairy products.

On day four, you may now eat a normal diet. Remember, however, that you undertook the Master Cleanse to rid the body of waste material. If you once again start eating highly processed foods, you have defeated the purpose of all the hard work you put your body through to get rid of it. The originator of the Master Cleanse recommends going toward a diet that consists of raw foods, nuts and berries. If that is not practical for you to do, then be sure to include at least some raw foods and stay away from processed foods and dairy as much as possible.
