Maple Syrup Vinegar Cleanse

Detoxes and cleanses have come into widespread use in recent years for getting healthy, ridding the body of toxins or losing weight. One popular cleansing diet uses maple syrup and apple cider vinegar. Although the benefits of this cleanse have yet to be proven, many dietitians believe it is beneficial for weight loss.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Holistic practitioners believe that the acidity of vinegar combined with the pectin in apples contribute to weight loss. For an apple cider vinegar cleanse, take a few teaspoons 15 minutes before each meal. Use organic apple cider vinegar (found at your local health food store) if you can.

Maple Syrup

Maple syrup is used for cleansing because it is one of the few unprocessed sugars that provide "good" calories as well as the micronutrients the body needs. It is also high in the minerals manganese and zinc. For most cleanses, such as the master cleanse, grade B maple syrup is recommended because it contains more minerals than the lighter grades of maple syrup.

Combining the Two

In a glass, add 1 tbsp. of bentonite clay and 1 tbsp. of psyllium powder to an even mixture of apple juice and water. Next, drink an 8 oz. glass of water mixed with 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar and a tbsp. of maple syrup. Drink these every morning for about five days and you should see results.
